Veille joue de la polysémie du mot: signifiant à la fois «le jour précédent» et «une garde de nuit».
La vitrine de l’espace d’art est condamnée par ses stores d’origine, datant de l’époque où il s’agissait d’un magasin. Habituellement visible depuis la rue, l’espace semble désormais fermé. En veille pendant la journée, l’installation est activée du crépuscule à l’aube.
Le soir, à proximité de l’espace d’art, les chants des oiseaux de l’arbre voisin, pourtant endormis, s’émanent dans la rue. À chaque passage d’un·e passant·e devant la vitrine, les chants s’arrêtent soudainement et la lumière s’allume quelques secondes entre les strilles des stores. Puis elle s’éteint, et laisse à nouveau la place aux chants des oiseaux.
Dans la rue, l’intervention joue d’une coïncidence, crée un cycle différé, recommence.
Veille plays on the polysemy of the word, signifying both "the day before" (the eve) and "a night watch."
The art space’s display window is blocked by its original blinds, dating back to when the site was a shop. Usually visible from the street, the space now appears closed. Dormant during the day, the installation is activated from twilight to dawn.
In the evening, near the art space, the songs of the birds from the neighboring tree—though asleep themselves—emanate into the street. With each passerby walking in front of the window, the singing stops abruptly, and a light switches on for a few seconds between the slats of the blinds. Then it extinguishes, giving way once again to the birdsong.
On the street, the intervention plays with coincidence, creating a deferred cycle that begins anew.
