Espace de parenthèse et d’entre-deux, la cage d’escalier se traverse. On s’y arrête dans la perspective d’autre chose, on s’y retrouve pour aller ailleurs. Il y a un avant, il y a un après ; la chorégraphie d’un va-et-vient. Dans cet interstice, des affiches crient des événements dans un espace qui leur est dédié, s’accumulent les unes à côté des autres, proposent une occupation. On nous annonce que quelque chose va arriver, est arrivé, et arrivera encore. On s’y attarde, peut-être.
Les nouveaux encadrés font autorité, appellent également à s’approcher et à s’arrêter. Derrière le verre, les énoncés observent les mouvements de l’entracte, deviennent didascalies. Les gestes sont des mots, les silences, des actions. Les vitrines s’exposent ; interrogent le réel, enferment des possibles, désignent l’événement dans l’infime.
A space of parenthesis and in-between, the stairwell is meant to be traversed. We stop there with something else in mind; we meet there to go elsewhere. There is a before, there is an after; the choreography of a back-and-forth. In this interstice, posters shout out events within a space dedicated to them, piling up alongside one another, proposing an occupation. We are told that something is going to happen, has happened, and will happen again. Perhaps we linger there.
The new frames assert authority, also calling us to approach and to stop. Behind the glass, the statements observe the movements of the intermission, becoming stage directions. Gestures are words; silences, actions. The display cases expose themselves; they question the real, enclose possibilities, and designate the event within the infinitesimal.
